A Berry Happy 4th of July
4th of July is one of my favorite holidays of the year. For me, it’s about backyard BBQs, fireworks and a huge spread of desserts! And I never eat dessert, but this is my day to indulge. And there are so many possibilities to showcase the farm blueberries and strawberries and add a fresh/ healthy topping.
Here are some fun recipes that celebrate the festivities.
Flag Cake is a family favorite. Kids of any age can help decorate with the different berries to create the flag. Blueberries and strawberries are the red and blue, vanilla frosting is the white. Easy to make and very festive!

Australia and New Zealand argue over who created Pavlova, but all I know is that it’s a ‘sweet’ rivalry. A hard meringue crust with berries on the top makes this treat one of my 4th of July go tos.

And what would a blog post from me be without a recipe from my favorite SimplyRecipes. The American flag pie! I often just buy premade crust dough and mush it around to make the shape of the flag. I don’t have a star cookie cutter, so I make just one star and do my best!
